2. What does it mean to be a PARACLETOS ?
~ This word in its noun form is used to describe the work of The Holy Spirit as a COMFORTER.
cf. Jn.14:16, 26; 15:26 & 16:7
- This word is best translated as a HELPER - - one who comes alongside another.
- In its verb form (paracaleo), it is found in 1Thess.3:2 & 7 (to strengthen, encourage and comfort). cf. 2Cor.13:11
- Some vivid illustrations are found in the books of Acts.
Acts 14:20 / the disciples stood around him
Acts 15:36 / let us return and visit the brethren...and see how they are doing
Acts 19:30 / when Paul wanted to go into the assembly, the disciples would not let him
3. How vital is it that we show one another mutual CONCERN?
