LESSON #29 – HALLMARKS OF GOOD PARENTING

 

INTRODUCTION

Are there certain characteristics that are frequently found in what can be termed, “good parenting skills”?

While no two parents are exactly alike, studies reveal that there are some common-core denominators - -

similar practices and habits that are more often than not shared by parents who excel at parenting.

The following list is slightly adapted from, “What Are Traits Of Good Parents?”, by Katherine Lee.

 

TWELVE HABITS OF HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PARENTS

(As you review the following, give thought to Scriptures that support these sub-points)

1. Guide And Support Rather Than Push And Demand.

 

2. Let Kids Be Independent.

 

3. Remember:  Kids Are Always Watching.

 

4. Never Be Mean, Spiteful, Or Belittle Your Children.

 

5. Show Your Kids You Love Them Every Day.

 

6. Acknowledge When You Make Mistakes And Apologize.

 

7. Discipline.

 

8. Look At What Your Child Needs, Not At What You Want Your Child To Be.

 

9. Know What Your Kids Are Doing And With Whom.

 

10. Teach Kids To Be Good People.

 

11. Connect With Your Child Every Day.
