  Forty years earlier the twelve spies spoke of these “sons of Anakim”, a people great and tall.  cf. Deut.9:2

~ These giants (a.k.a., Emim & Rephaim) struck fear among the Israelites.  cf. Num.13:22, 28, 33 and Deut. 2:10-11 & 20-21.

~ In Num.13:33, these giants are spoken of as descendants from the Nephilim (Gen.6:4).

~ All of them were destroyed except those residing in coastal areas of Gaza, Gath and Ashdod. – vs.22

- Goliath, from Gath, was 9½ feet tall.  Cf. 1Sam.17:4

In a geographical region 150 miles (north to south) by 50 miles (east to west), Israel defeated 31 kings.
