The Sanctuary
Offerings … Ark Of The Covenant … Table Of Showbread … Golden Lampstand / Ex.25
1. How was the sanctuary to be financed? – vss.1-9 cf. Ex.35:4-9 and Ex.36:3-7
Funding was to come from the children of Israel from every man whose heart moves him.
What was sought? – gold, sliver, bronze and lots of other special gifts.
Where did the Israelites (pilgrims in the wilderness) obtain such? – cf. Ex.3:21-22; 11:2-3 & 12:35-36 with Ps.105:37
How did the people respond to this fund-raising campaign? – cf. Ex.36:5-7
This sanctuary of the Lord (Num.19:20) is also known as: The Tabernacle of the Lord (Lev.17:4) …
The Tent of Meeting (Ex.27:21) … The Tent of Testimony (Num.9:15) … The House/Temple of The Lord (1Sam.1:7& 9)
Who would provide the pattern for this structure? – vs.9
2. What was the Ark of the Covenant? – vss.10-22
Notice once again that God provided the blueprint for its construction.
What was the significance of The Mercy Seat ? – vss.17 & 22 and Ex.29:42-43 & 30:6 & 36
What items would come to be stored in the Ark?
cf. vs.21 with Ex.16:33-34 & 40:20; Deut.10:2; 1Kgs.8:9 and Num.17:10
Heb.9:4 specifies three things: manna … Aaron’s rod … tables of the covenant
The mercy seat (literally, propititation) foreshadowed the work of Jesus. – Rom.3:25 and 1Jn.2:2
3. The showbread represents The Bread Of The Presence. – vss.23-30
4. What was unique about the lampstand? – vss.31-40
In shedding light (vs.37), it was to be a continual/perpetual luminary (Ex.27:20).
Curtains And Veil / Ex.26
1. The curtains, boards and sockets constituted the tabernacle “skeleton”.
The outer shell of the tabernacle was essentially an intricate and “glorified” tent or pavilion.
Here again, it was to be construction with exact specificity. – vs.30
2. The veil served as a partition between the holy place and the most host holy place (holy of holies). – vss.33b
The screen was the doorway of the tent.
What is the spiritual significance of the destruction of the temple in AD 70, prefigured by the cross?

Bronze Altar And Court Of The Tabernacle / Ex.27
1. The sacrificial altar was to be constructed of bronze and wood – vss.1-8
It was to be five cubits square and three cubits in height. Cf. Ex.38:1-8
