> Questions & Observations For Discussion ?
1. God’s providence includes His provisions by means of the natural order of things.
2. God’s providence included actions throughout sacred history to fulfill His plan of redemption.
3. God’s providence today includes a multitude of principled Biblical promises given to His children.
While we no longer live the season of “signs & wonders” (Mk.16:20 & Heb.2:3-4) unique to the time of redemptive history, God has enacted certain truths that apply for all time - - throughout life - - in the new covenant (Eph.3:20-21).
2Pet.1:3 – God has “granted to us ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS…”
Eph.1:3 – In Christ we have been blessed with ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES.
There are literally hundreds of these, but the following are given as examples.
Jn.3:16 & 36 – forgiveness to those who (obediently) believe in Christ Jesus
God’s covenantal blessings abound to His children:
His presence/Rev.21:3…no death/Rev.21:4…no curse/Rev.22:3…tree of life/Rev.22:14…water of life/Rev.22:17
mercy…grace…atonement…salvation…redemption…justification…reconciliation…sanctification…adoption/sonship
Prov.3:5-6 – When we trust in the Lord He will make our paths straight
2Tim.3:16 – The sacred Scriptures equip us for every good work cf. Mt.4:4 and Js.1:5
1Pet.5:7 - He hears our prayers and cares for us
Ps.46:1 & Isa.41:10 – He is our refuge & strength …
Heb.13:5 – He will never leave us or forsake us
Philp.4:7 – He provides a peace that passes understanding cf. Jn.14:27
Lk.6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you” cf. Acts 20:35 with Gal.6:7-8
1Cor.10:13 – In every temptation He provides a way of escape
