Acceptable Worship

Acceptable Worship

The Christian faith is about the grace and mercy of God!

We thank God that He doesn’t give us what we deserve.  If we get what we deserve, we would all be destined to hell!

It’s as simple as that.

God in His love for us, sent Jesus as:

Our Deliverer,

Our Redeemer,

Our Mediator,

Our Savior,

Taking our sins to the cross, and when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we become God’s children.

Amen to that?

We have been forgiven! And we recognize that our forgiveness is an undeserved gift from God!

God demands we worship Him.  But wouldn’t we worship Him anyway?

When we come to an understanding that God the creator loves us and cares for us, that He has done so much for us and continues to do so much beyond our expectations,

When we consider how God sees in us what we can’t see ourselves, That through the power of God’s word we are being molded and shaped, transformed into what He would have us be, that God brings out the potential in us that we would never know without Him,

That God endlessly amazes us in so many ways, that gratitude becomes our gravity! Is there any reason to not worship Him?

Amen to that?

I believe that we were created with an inward desire and need to worship. That worship is part of our DNA.

All throughout recorded time and even before, man has worshiped.

Archeologist have been digging all over the planet and the one common thread that has been found is evidence of mans need to worship.  Man has always worshiped something or someone. Worship is in our nature!

Man has always looked to something more than and greater than himself.  It’s the way we are made.

We believe that there is the one true God.  The creator and sustainer of all of reality! That our very essence, that life itself, springs forth from God!

Thus we chose to worship Him.  And it’s a good thing we do, because God demands it!

Speaking of worship,

  1. Are we free to worship God as we see fit?
  2. Will God accept our ideas on worship?
  3. Does God give us guidance and direction in how He wants us to worship?

This brings us to our lesson this morning:  God having created us for worship of Him, and only Him!  When He gave Moses the ten commandments, the first of those ten is to have no other God but Him.  Another words, Worship only Him! We will now logically look at what God has said about how we are to worship Him.
