Everlasting Fulfillment

Living Now in the Kingdom That Has No End

A Five-Point Exposition of Isaiah 9:6–7

“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.” — Isaiah 9:7

The Prophecy — Isaiah 9:6–7

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The names of the Child are the agenda of this message — and, for the believer, a present possession.

Introduction · The Preterist Lens — Already, Not Someday

  • Prophecy Fulfilled — the throne, government, and peace promised to the Child were established and brought to fullness; every word kept.
  • Kingdom Present — we do not wait for a future reign; we live inside the unshakable kingdom now, under a King already enthroned.
  • Fulfillment Today — counsel, strength, belonging, peace, and reign are present possessions for the very next hour of ordinary life.

The Road Ahead — Five Marks

  1. Everlasting Counsel — Wonderful Counselor: wisdom for every decision.
  2. Everlasting Strength — Mighty God: power for every daily battle.
  3. Everlasting Belonging — Everlasting Father: a settled home in the Father’s house.
  4. Everlasting Peace — Prince of Peace: rest in a reconciliation already finished.
  5. Everlasting Reign — Government without end: life inside the unshakable kingdom.

Point One · Everlasting Counsel

Wonderful Counselor — Pele Yo’etz, “a wonder of a counselor”

  • The Reality: The reigning King is present as Counselor by His Spirit — guidance available for every ordinary decision today.
  • Illustration: A traveler handed a guide who has already walked every mile of the road, with counsel at every fork.
  • Scriptures: John 14:26 · John 16:13 · James 1:5 · Proverbs 3:5–6 · Psalm 32:8
  • Live It Today: Before you decide, ask. Wisdom is a present possession.

Point Two · Everlasting Strength

Mighty God — El Gibbor, “the Mighty God, the divine Warrior”

  • The Reality: El Gibbor has already won; believers fight from victory, not for it.
  • Illustration: A small lamp shines only because it’s wired to a vast power station — the current already runs through the line.
  • Scriptures: Ephesians 1:19–20 · Philippians 4:13 · 2 Corinthians 12:9 · Isaiah 40:31 · Colossians 1:11
  • Live It Today: When you feel weak, plug in. Stand, don’t strive.

Point Three · Everlasting Belonging

Everlasting Father — Avi-Ad, “Father of eternity, who fathers His people for ever”

  • The Reality: Adoption is complete — sons and daughters, heirs already named.
  • Illustration: An adopted child doesn’t earn the family name each morning; the papers are already signed.
  • Scriptures: Romans 8:15–16 · Galatians 4:6–7 · John 1:12 · 1 John 3:1 · Ephesians 1:5
  • Live It Today: Stop auditioning for acceptance. Live from belonging, not for it.

Point Four · Everlasting Peace

Prince of Peace — Sar Shalom, “Prince of wholeness and well-being”

  • The Reality: Peace made through the blood of the cross; reconciliation finished, the dividing wall down.
  • Illustration: When a war ends by treaty, the peace is real the moment it’s signed. Stop fighting a war already over.
  • Scriptures: Romans 5:1 · John 14:27 · Ephesians 2:14 · Philippians 4:7 · Colossians 1:20
  • Live It Today: Trade anxiety for the peace He already purchased.

Point Five · Everlasting Reign

Government without End — “Of the increase of his government … there shall be no end”

  • The Reality: The kingdom is established, unshakable, and never stops increasing.
  • Illustration: Citizens of a long-founded nation don’t wait for a coronation — the throne is occupied, the laws in force.
  • Scriptures: Luke 1:32–33 · Daniel 2:44 · Hebrews 12:28 · Colossians 1:13 · Romans 14:17
  • Live It Today: Live as kingdom citizens: righteousness, peace, and joy.

Putting It to Work — Every Single Day

When you face…

Draw on…

So that you can…

A decision to make

Counsel

Ask the reigning Counselor before you act.

A sudden weakness

Strength

Draw on His established might; stand, don’t strive.

An old insecurity

Belonging

Rest as a settled heir — the papers are signed.

A rising anxiety

Peace

Stand on the finished treaty of the cross.

The day’s ordinary work

Reign

Serve as a citizen of the unshakable kingdom.

Conclusion — No End, So Begin Today

Everlasting fulfillment is a daily inheritance, not a someday hope. Will you live today as one who already has everything the Child was given to bring?

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.” — Romans 15:13
